Otherwise known as the Omni-directional, vertical lift, helicopter drone. The first patent was way back in 1962 by an engineer working for Piasecki Aircraft Corp. by the name of Edward G. Vanderlip. It took many years for the electronics to catch up to make the patent feasible though.
